How To Set Transition Sound and Duration
You can control when an animation effect begins and how quickly it occurs in PowerPoint. You can even rewind or repeat the effect to achieve the desired look and feel for your presentation. This article will demonstrate a few techniques for fine-tuning the animations in your presentations.
To modify the transition duration
- Choose the slide with the transition you want to change.
- Enter the desired transition time in the Timing group's Duration field. To make the transition faster, we'll reduce the time to half a second (00.50) in this example.
To add sound
- Choose the slide with the transition you want to change.
- In the Timing group, select the Sound option from the drop-down menu.
- Click a sound to add it to the selected slide, then play the transition to hear it.
- Sounds should be used sparingly. When presenting your slide show, using a sound between each slide may become overwhelming or even annoying to your audience.
To remove a transition
- Choose the slide containing the transition you want to remove.
- Choose None from the Transition to This Slide category. The transition will be eliminated.
Advancing slides
The Timing group's Advance Slides setting allows the presentation to advance on its own and display each slide for a set amount of time. This feature is especially useful for presentations that are unattended, such as those at a trade show booth.
To advance slides automatically
- Choose the slide you want to change.
- On the Transitions tab, look for the Timing group. Uncheck the box next to On Mouse Click under Advance Slide.
- Enter the time you want the slide to be displayed in the After field. In this case, the slide will advance automatically after 1 minute and 15 seconds, or 01:15:00.
- choose another slide and repeat until all slides have the desired timing. You can also apply the same timing to all slides by clicking the Apply to All command.
