To edit a picture or clipart in PowerPoint

The picture tools in PowerPoint make it simple to personalize and modify images in novel ways. PowerPoint allows you to change the picture style and shape, add a border, crop and compress images, apply artistic effects, and more.

To crop an image

Cropping an image means removing a portion of it. Cropping can be useful when there is a lot of content in a picture and you want to focus on only a portion of it.
Select the image to be cropped. The Format tab is displayed.
Select the Crop command from the Format tab. Around the image, cropping handles will appear. Drag one of the handles to crop the picture. Place the mouse directly above the black cropping handle to avoid accidentally picking a resizing handle, place the mouse directly over the black cropping handle. Select Crop once more. Cropping will be applied to the image.

To crop an image to a shape

• Choose the image to crop, then click the Format tab.
• Select Crop from the drop-down menu. Drag the drop-down menu that appears to a shape by moving your mouse over Crop to Shape..
The image will be displayed in the shape format.

To add a border to an image

Choose the image to which you want to add a border, then go to the Format tab
 Select Picture Border from the menu. A drop-down menu will be displayed.

Image adjustments

Artistic Effects: This command can be found in the Adjust group. You can now add artistic effects like pastels, water colors, and glowing edges.

To compress a picture

• Select the image to be compressed, then click the Format tab.
• Select the Compress Pictures option.
• A dialogue box will be displayed. Mark the box next to Delete cropped areas of images. You can also specify whether the settings should be applied only to this image or to all images in the presentation.
•Select a target output. Select Email to send your presentation, as it creates the least file size.When you're finished, click OK.
